Hooray! More characters are returning to their restaurants this year!

While all but one location has reopened (1900 Park Fare is still closed), the restaurants have been operating without Characters. Disney announced today that three more locations would have Characters before Christmas!

The Crystal Palace, ‘Ohana, and Cape May Cafe characters are returning.

The Crystal Palace, in Magic Kingdom, will welcome back Pooh and Friends on September 20.

‘Ohana, at The Polynesian Resort, will have Mickey, Stitch and Friends starting September 27.

Cape May Cafe, at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, will have Characters back for Breakfast starting October 4th.

I’ll be covering all of these options, which you can follow along in real time on Instagram, and reviews will be posted here under News!

Best Options for those with Food Allergies and Dietary Restrictions

Here at Mouse Ear Memories we’re all about the Special Diets (because everyone should get to enjoy a safe vacation!) and Character meals are no exception. Here’s the one’s I’d recommend from most to least favorite based on past experiences.

Top Choice: ‘Ohana

Having been back several times since the reopening without characters, I am very excited to go back with characters!

This is one of my top choices for allergy friendly and gluten free eats. ‘Ohana has a very simple menu- but the simplicity makes it easy for everyone to eat a comparable meal. It also has reservations close to lunch time, making this a great brunch spot.

Plus, with views of Cinderella’s Castle, it’s a great edition to a no park day, or a Magic Kingdom day!

Another good option: The Crystal Palace

Disney describes it as, “This greenhouse-inspired beauty is the perfect place to spend your day with some hugs and a feast, with options like Carved Prime Rib, Seasonal Ravioli, and Peel & Eat Shrimp.”

It is a Buffet, so to avoid Cross Contact, I speak with a Chef or Coordinator, and have them prepare foods from the back.

Lastly, Cape May Cafe, which hopefully has more options available

The last time I was at Cape May, was in late 2019 (they closed, along with everything else, in March 2020). Cape May has since reopened and has a small yet modest menu. I haven’t been back yet- but I’m excited to give them a try after Characters have returned.
