Gluten Free Hollywood Studios (meals, snacks, tips) 2023

Save this post for later

Hollywood Studios is the place to be this year, and we’ve been a few times as a gluten free family. Eating gluten-free Hollywood Studios style isn’t hard, it just requires some planning!

I mean, there’s a ton of new and great options, like fun eats over in Toy Story Land, Galactic Eats in Galaxy’s Edge, and we’ve got the food allergy friendly reviews you need to plan a great vacation to Disney World.

But really… Disney World is one of our favorite places to visit, especially because we know that we can safely find good food that won’t cause a reaction (since some family members have more than just an allergy to gluten) and it’s a genuine delight to go on vacation, break up with your kitchen, and not be worried about finding safe food on your trip!

So what’s there to eat at Hollywood Studios? Besides the popcorn 😉

We’re gonna talk about eating out at length. From Gluten Free eats, to other top allergens, to managing multiple allergens! Looking for other parks? Check out Magic Kingdom Gluten Free and eating Gluten Free at Disney World

Quick Tips before you get started with Gluten Free Hollywood Studios

Before we talk about stuff in the parks, let’s talk about what you should know before you get into the park, especially when we talk about free from eating.

First things first, you can (and should ) bring in some snacks or even meals to Animal Kingdom. See more about bringing in food to Disney World here.

You can also bring in a reusable water bottle, or buy a water bottle and refill it. All of the refill locations are listed here.

Second thing is that you need to know that the menus and offerings can (and will) change especially when talking about allergy friendly food. Sometimes its that the suppliers dont have it on hand, sometimes it’s that they aren’t selling the food (though most of the allergen friendly food at Animal kingdom is prefrozen and then cooked for you!)

Then when it comes to strictly quick serve, Mobile ordering is another option that Disney World has pushed in 2020- and good news! It’s pretty easy to use with a non-life-threatening Allergy.

For those of you with severe allergies, Mobile Ordering is not the best option, and you need to walk up to the quick serve and talk to them about placing and order with a cashier and manager. Here’s everything you need to know about mobile ordering, plus a walkthrough.

Gluten Free Quick Service Options at Hollywood Studios

Quick Serve Locations with Allergy Menus

    • Docking Bay 7
    • ABC Commisary
    • Backlot Express
    • Rosie’s All American
    • Pizzerizzo

There’s a lot of great quick serve locations at Hollywood Studios, in fact it’s my favorite place for allergy quick serve (animal kingdom comes in second!).

Let’s start on Sunset Blvd towards the front of the park. At Rosie’s All American you can get several allergy options with safe bread. The bread is currently top 8 friendly. As well as pizza!

The top 9 allergens as recognized by Disney are: Wheat/Gluten (mixed together, ask in person for specifics!), Dairy/Milk, Soy (typically soy protein, sometimes leaves out lethicin and oil from menus), Egg, Peanut/Treenut (mixed together, ask in person for specifics!), Fish/Shellfish (mixed together, ask in person for specifics!). As of 2023, they are adding Sesame to new menus and menu updates.

In the middle of the park is ABC commissary and Backlot Express. I pick Backlot Express everytime over ABC as the staff there… well they push mobile ordering and don’t want you to seperate your party. It’s a weird experience. Food is good and safe- just not a favorite location.

At Backlot Express, there’s safe allergy cookies, there’s burgers and fries, and there’s chicken tenders.

Over in the new land of Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land there’s two great quick serves I recommend. The first is Docking Bay 7, which has a favorite dish, the Chicken Tip Yip.

Then onto Woody’s Lunch Box. While there’s no allergy menu here, and options are limited, they do have the best gf/df grilled cheese on property!

Gluten Free Table Service Restaurants at Hollywood Studios

We’ve got a New Table Service location that opened in March in Toy Story Land! See the Full Review and options for Roundup Rodeo BBQ here.

There’s several really great Table Service options at Hollywood Studios!

Let’s start with the easiest to get, but also one of my least favorites. Mama Melrose, over by PizzaRizzo quick serve, is a great table service option with lots of gluten free eats including bread and desserts. On it’s own, it’s a great location, but when compared to some of the other options I’d recommend you skip it and go to…

50’s Prime Time Cafe. This location is home to the famous Gluten Free Fried Chicken, made in a dedicated fryer. They have a Gluten Friendly dessert too, and lots of side options to choose from. Plus the Staff is absolutely hilarious, as they treat you like the grumpy family, and everyone is a cousin. I can’t even properly explain it- but it’s an experience with your meal!

Not into the vintage vibes at 50’s? Head over to Hollywood Brown Derby for even more incredible eats. If you dine here, you won’t feel left out as there’s multiple appetizers, entrees, and desserts. This is a Signature Dining Option, and while the prices are higher than other table service locations, it’s also a scratch kitchen with lots of options to choose from.

AND the NEWEST option is Roundup Rodeo BBQ! I’ve been twice, with the second time being better than the first. If you have a big appetite, or want a themed location, I would highly recommend this option. You can see the full review for Gluten Free Roundup Rodeo here (plus menu options!)

My absolute least favorite, and the one I won’t recommend, is Sci-Fi Dine In. Not only are the vibes off, but the food is basic. Burgers and Sandwiches. They do have a Gluten Friendly Wrap, but it’s nothing special.

Lastly in the Table Service section is a Character Meal! There is only one character meal at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it serves breakfast lunch and dinner. For lunch and dinner, Hollywood and Vine transforms into seasonal offerings. I’d rank this as one of the better Character Meals on property. If you want to dine at a Character meal outside of the parks (and without needing a ticket), see these character meal recommendations.

The Character Breakfast is ok, it has a lot of nice options, though I wish there as alittle more to the Meal! You can see the Gluten Free options for Disney Jr Breakfast here.

Gluten Free Hollywood Studios Snacks and Desserts

Perhaps the favorite meal of the day at Disney is titled “snacks and desserts” 😉

At Hollywood Scoops on Sunset Blvd, you can get regular Dairy Ice Cream (some flavors are egg and corn free too) and also Tofutti soy based (dairy free!) ice cream.

They do not have Gluten Free cones, something that Disney World as a whole is lacking in, but they do have Gluten Free Brownies! This is one of the best places for a GF Brownie Sundae (and the only place you’ll officially find it in the parks!)

In Galaxy’s Edge you can grab some Batuu Based Popcorn. They have multiple flavors and ALL of them are Gluten Friendly. There’s a lot more in Galaxy’s Edge, and you can see a seperate post dedicated to the new Star War land, and all the Gluten Free options here.

And the totchos (technically a meal, but really a snack) at Woody’s LunchBox are a big hit!

That’s all for Gluten Free Hollywood Studios
