Spending the day at Disney World means a major drain on your battery! While Disney has some rare outlets for charging, the best bet is to use a portable charger.
Fuel Rods are my portable charger of choice, since they are lightweight, easy to maintain, and even easier to swap out!
At these locations you can purchase or swap out your Fuel Rods Portable Charging system. If you don’t have a Fuel Rod, you’ll come here to the Kiosk to purchase one. The purchase comes with several charging adapters.
If you already have a Fuel Rod, you’ll hit the ‘swap’ button on the screen, insert the rod according to the barcode instructions, and grab the new Fuel Rod at the base of the machine.

Can you Buy Fuel Rods at Disney World?
Yes! You purchase them at the Kiosks, not at a Store Register. There are multiple kiosks at the Disney World Parks where you can purchase (and swap) Fuel Rods. Currently they are 30 dollars, and purchased with Card only. Find the Kiosks at Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and EPCOT.
You can also purchase these FuelRod kits on Amazon before your trip. Generally, you can get two kits for half the price of a Disney Kiosk. No discount code or coupon required!
How Many FuelRods should you bring with you on Vacation?
At least two! Some Kiosks will be ‘out of order’ and I find that I need two FuelRods to fully power my phone. One FuelRod gives me around 50% battery. You can purchase a two pack of FuelRods on Amazon, normally for less than 40 dollars (almost half off the price at Disney!)
If you have two devices to charge, bring three fuelrods.

Does it cost anything to Swap Fuel Rods at Disney World?
No! Fuel Rods swaps are Free at Disney World once you have the Fuel Rods. This means you can bring you own (like purchase them on Amazon for a lower price) or bring them from another park. If you loose your charging adapter, you will need to purchase one of those in the Disney Shops, as charging cords are not provided when swapping.
Does a Fuel Rod come with an Iphone Charger? Or an Android Charger?
The FuelRod Kit includes cables & adaptors for compatibility with all android & apple phones. There’s three different charging adapters. You can see examples of the cords on Amazon.
Do you have to use a Kiosk to Charge the FuelRod?
Nope! You can charge a Fuel Rod using a wall outlet or other charging device. Kiosks are just helpful ways to swap your used FuelRod for a freshly charged one, but you can do the same thing with a wall outlet with a USB port, or by bringing your own wall charger.

My Favorite Fuel Rod station, as there’s two next to each other! Sometimes you’ll find that a Fuel Rod Kiosk is out of service, and it’s nice that there are two here to maximize your chances of a working Kiosk!
This is also the first kiosk when entering the park, and last when leaving, so helpful to know before your trip.
Main Street USA-Casey’s Corner/Emporium Walk Through
This is the ‘secret’ fuel rod location, as it’s not on the map! Find this by walking through Casey’s Corner Quick Serve, or going through the Emporium Shop (the shop on the left hand side of Main Street USA if you are facing the Castle)
Tomorrowland- Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies Quick Serve Restaurant
Another two-for-one location, there’s two Fuel Rod Kiosks inside this location! It’s officially called “Merchant of Venus” but there’s no store here. It’s just seating for Auntie Gravity’s Ice Cream shop.
Tomorrowland- Tomorrowland Launch Depot
At the exit for Space Mountain, you can find the Kiosk on the far wall. It’s next to the Double Doors that lead you to the walkway of Tron. This is the closest kiosk to Storybook Circus.
Tomorrowland- Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe Quick Serve Restaurant
Find this Fuel Rod next to the water refill station in Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe! Easy to get to, this is right by the registers.

New Fantasy Land- Storybook Circus- Big Top Souvenirs Shop (also the exit to Pete’s Silly Slideshow Meet and Greet)
This one is easy to get to if you are exiting the Meet and Greet in Storybook Circus (by the Dumbo Ride!). You can also enter the Big Top Souvenirs Shop and walk all the way towards the back wall. You’ll find it tucked against the wall by the double doors.
Frontierland- Peco Bills Quick Serve Restaurant
The Disney Map has this on the other side of the walkway, but it’s definitely inside the Quick Serve location! Walk in the front doors, or the side doors, and you’ll find this on the back wall. It’s tucked by the condiment buffet.
Adventureland/Frontierland Bathroom Covered Walkway
This is both in Adventureland and Frontierland, as its the Main Bathroom Walkway between the two lands. If you’ve gone to the Dole Whip Walkway, or all the way past Pirates, you’ve gone too far!

Where are the Fuel Rod Kiosks in World Showcase?
There is only one Fuel Rod Kiosk in World Showcase, and that’s at the entrance to World Showcase in the Disney Traders Shop. There is another that is slighty off the path. You can walk to the International Gateway Shop in between France and UK. There in the World Travelers Shop is another Fuel Rod Kiosk. There is no Kiosk between Mexico and France.

World Celebration- Gateway Gifts Shop
The first Kiosk you’ll come to if you use the Main EPCOT Entrance is at the Gateway Gifts shop! This is on the left as you approach the EPCOT Ball. You’ll find the Kiosk tucked on the wall by the Registers. If that Kiosk is out of order, the next two closest Kiosks are at the Seas Pavilion to the right of the EPCOT Ball or the Mission Space Gift Shop if you follow the path to the left.
World Nature-Seas Pavilion Gift Shop
There’s two ways to access this Kiosk. You can ride The Seas with Nemo and Friends ride, or you can go in the ‘exit’ straight to the gift shop.
World Nature-Land Pavilion Second Floor Restrooms
The Kiosk inside the Land Pavilion can be hard to access if you are using a Mobility Device or a Wheelchair.
You need to go up the ramp (and you cannot bring regular strollers, only medically necessary ones). Stay on the top floor and go to the left to the Second Floor Restrooms. The kiosk is tucked on a wall to the left.
World Nature- Imagination Pavilion
As you exit the Journey into Imagination with Figment Ride, you’ll come into ride exit where you can meet Characters!
I’ve classified this as a Play Area, but it doesnt have an official name!
You don’t have to ride the ride to access this area, or the Fuel Rod! It’s tucked against a wall on the left as you exit, or right as you enter!
World Discovery- Mission Space Gift Shop
Over by the new Cosmic Rewind (Guardians of the Galaxy) ride, you’ll find Mission Space Ride. You can get to this Kiosk by riding the ride, or by heading in the exit. While the ride entrance is on the right, head left to the double doors. You’ll find the kiosks inside on the right (or on the left as you exit the ride).
World Discovery- Test Track Gift Shop
Another Gift shop, and you likely know the drill by now. You can access this by riding the ride and exiting through the gift shop. You’ll find this kiosk against the wall by the exit doors on the right.
If you are entering the Gift shop exit, head to the right of the ride. You’ll walk through the double doors, and the Kiosk will be on the left.
World Showcase- Disney Traders Shop
This is the only location on the World Showcase loop. If you are facing World Showcase from the main walkway, this is the shop on the left Disney Traders(the shop on the right doesn’t have a fuel rod). Disney Traders is closest to Mexico.
Inside the shop you’ll find the kiosk on the left wall by the two exit doors.
International Gateway Entrance- World Traveler Shop
You could consider this part of World Showcase, but since you have to walk down the slope and almost exit the park, it’s considered an entrance Kiosk instead.
Find this in between France and the UK. As you cross the bridge from France, head to the left to the International Gateway Entrance (you won’t actually leave the park). If coming from the UK, stay to the right, and head down the hill on the right before you come to the bridge.
Located at the Skyliner/Boardwalk Entrance to EPCOT, you’ll find this Fuel Rod Kiosk in the World Traveler Shop. Near the Registers, the kiosk is up against the wall.

Discovery Island- Outside Discover Trading Company Shop
This location is outside and kinda tucked against the wall, so it can be easy to miss. It’s also one of the first two locations when entering the park, or the last two when leaving. I like to come here when I enter the park to get a fresh Fuel Rod, and also swap right before I leave the park.
Discovery Island- Outside Island Mercantile Shop
Another Outside location, and this one is more visible as it faces the walkway better. You’ll also find a Penny Pressing Machine here!
Dinoland USA- Dinosaur Ride Exit- The Dino Institute Shop
Maybe my least favorite location because I always end up looking for it! I finally took a picture of it, and decided it was time to make this post for those of us who walk right by the Fuel Rod Swap locations.
You do not have to ride the ride to access this location. Simply go to the Left when you walk up to the ride (left before the fountain) and walk inside the shop. Inside the Shop this Fuel Rod is to the Left in the back. Or when Exiting the ride, it will be on your right before you enter the shop.
Asia- Everest Ride Exit- Serka Zong Bazaar
If you use a Mobility Device, this location can be tricky. You’ll find the ramp to the right of the steps so you can enter this location.
You do not have to ride the ride to access this location. Simply go to the Serka Zong Bazaar Shop, and you’ll find this inside and to the Left.

Where do you get Fuel Rods in Disney’s Hollywood Studios:
- Hollywood Boulevard- Celebrity 5 & 10 Shop
- Sunset Blvd- Tower of Terror Gift Shop/Exit
- Echo Lake- Vacation Fun Theatre/Frozen Gift Shop
- Grand Avenue- PizzeRizzo Quick Serve Restaurant
- Pixar Place- Outside the Restrooms
- Listed but not functional- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster ride exit
Hollywood Boulevard- Celebrity 5 & 10 Shop
You’ll find this kiosk inside the shop, near the middle doors. It’s located on the wall by the registers.
Sunset Blvd- Tower of Terror Gift Shop/Exit
The ‘hardest’ one to get to, as it’s all the way at the other end of the park! Either ride the ride, and catch this on the exit, or head in through the Gift Shop and walk all the way to the back.
Echo Lake- Vacation Fun Theatre (right next to the Frozen Gift Shop)
This is visible from the walkway, as you walk towards the Muppet attraction, or Galaxy’s Edge. It is an outside location.
Grand Avenue- PizzeRizzo Quick Serve Restaurant
Located in the outside dining, you can access this Kiosk even when the restaurant is closed.
Pixar Place- Outside the Restrooms
Located Outside, this is under an overhang. Sometimes you’ll see a Blue Guest Services Tent there, other times it will be completely vacant.
Disney Springs Fuel Rod Locations
Here’s where to find all of the Disney Springs Fuel Rod Locations:
- Disney PhotoPass Studio in Marketplace
- Disney Springs Welcome Center in Town Center
- Sundries Store by the Orange Garage
Disney PhotoPass Studio in Marketplace
Near the giant World of Disney Store, you’ll find a smaller building to the left of World of Disney.
Inside the Marketplace, head towards the Photopass Studio. This Fuel Rod Kiosk will be on the wall in the walkway between the studio and the Marketplace Shops.
Disney Springs Welcome Center in Town Center
This is a large Southern Style Building with a wrap around porch and smiling Guest Services. The Guest Services Team works here to help you with any questions you might have. Let them know you need the Fuel Rod location and they’ll direct you to the Kiosk which is near the Exit. This location is number 61 on the map.
Sundries Store by the Orange Garage
The Sundries store is ‘behind’ the main shops, near the Disney Resort Bus Loop. You can come here for the Fuel Rod, to rent strollers or WheelChairs or for certain personal care products. This location is number 63 on the Map.
How to find Fuel Rod Locations on the MyDisney Experience App
How to Find these Locations in the Parks
- Using the MyDisney Experience App click the bottom Location Icon. Select Park location. At the top of the page is a drop down bar, click the drop down arrow and select ‘Guest Services’ then you can see the locations that have Battery. You can also click “Show List’ on the top right and scroll to ‘Service Animals ‘Portable Phone Charging System Kiosks’ which will bring you to the page below
- Using the MyDisney Experience App and typing in the search “Fuel Rods”, then click the Portable Phone Charging System Kiosks and on the next page ” Find on Map”. It auto populates to Magic Kingdom, but you can zoom out to find the other parks and their areas.
