Crisped Rice, or otherwise known as the brand name turned household name Rice Krispies, are a fluffy yet crunchy treat!
These Rice based snacks are always a fun treat, but for those with gluten allergies, the current crisped rice snacks at Disney World were not safe. The only safe option was to purchase a crisped rice treat from Starbucks that was labeled gluten free, or BYORC (bring your own rice crisps!)

In November of 2021 we reported on this change, so we’re sad to report that Malt is back as of November 2022

But the ingredients got a change, and now Disney World is marketing the crisped rice treats as gluten friendly! Let’s take a look at the new ingredient list. This is part of a series on 50th Celebration Disney World Snacks (allergy friendly version!)
***As Always, please speak to a qualified restaurant employee when ordering food. In order to see the most accurate ingredients and risk assessment, you will need to confirm allergy safety in real-time. This is my personal experience, I am not employed or endorsed by companies or brands mentioned.***

Rice Crisps are now labeled Gluten Friendly
While I do not advise mobile ordering for those with food allergies (the statement at the bottom gives me pause as it’s indemnifying disney from a mistake and I’d rather speak to a chef to confirm brands used, read more about that in the Food Allergy Guidebook for Disney World), I do think that the mobile ordering menu is a useful tool!
So I was using this useful tool and stumbled upon the new update that Disney World is marketing the Crisped Rice Treats at Gluten Friendly.

Two days later, at the confectionary, I was able to check ingredients for myself to confirm that the “malt” ingredient previously listed was removed (as always, check ingredients in real time for your unique dietary needs!)

This makes the Mickey Shaped Crisped Rices “gluten friendly” as they are still produced in a shared facility with milk, wheat, soy, eggs, peanuts and treenuts. They also contain Milk and Soy Ingredients.
So while my kiddos won’t be enjoying the crisped rice treats (as they aren’t confirm to have less than 20 ppm of gluten), lots of people can now enjoy the crisped rice treats as another Gluten Friendly Option!
