Menu changes are so fun for the regular folks, and sometimes fun for those of us with dietary needs.
I mean… new options is both exciting and nerve wracking. What if they take away the favorite/safe item? Or add in something with a bunch of allergens?
Good news, the change at Backlot is welcome and much needed. Even better new? I’ve got the details below for you to check out!
Backlot Express Quick Service Allergen Update
Backlot Quick Serve at Hollywood Studios has added several new items to their menu. You can find this location on the left side of the park, nestled between Indiana Jones and the Entrance to Galaxy’s Edge.
The most notable is the Teriyaki Bowl, which can be made with both chicken and tofu.
The Teriyaki Chicken Bowl only lists Soy and Sesame as allergens.
The plant based Teriyaki Tofu Bowl is exactly the same, just made with Tofu. Allergens are still Soy and Sesame.
Both of the Bowls can be modified, as well as the Southwest Salad and the Burgers. They have an allergy friendly bun here that can accommodate the top 9 allergens.
The item I was most excited for was the Cuban Sandwich. Unfortunately this sandwich comes premade and cannot be modified! Allergens for that are Gluten, Egg, Dairy and Soy. It is premade in a shared facility so it’s not listed as an option for any of the allergens.
Easiest Allergens here will be Peanut, Treenut, Fish and Shellfish since those items are rarely found at Backlot. Followed by Gluten/Wheat, Egg, and Dairy needing modifications. Soy is hardest here with only a Burger listed on the menu. The chicken tenders have soy oil, and the Salad can be modified. None of the other options can be modified for soy.
